The symposium shall focus on different music education approaches that involve singing, including a strong focus on how the Kodaly concept can still be used even if the basic conditions have changed. The symposium shall gather music pedagogues, professors and teachers, conductors, vocal ensembles and singers across Europe and wider for a rich and varied program of presentations, demonstrations, workshops, panel discussions and concerts.

The EMU in partnership with the Kuula Institute of Music in Vaasa, Finland, organised the EMU Capacity Building Seminar – Many Students, Many Pedagogies, which took place from 24 – 26 October 2013 in Vaasa, Finland.
After the success of ALLEGROMOSSO, XI edition of the EMU Youth Music Festival in Italy, the AIdSM - Italian Association of Schools of Music, Assonanza - Association of Schools of Music in Emilia-Romagna and Società Firmatour di Egocentro srl, in collaboration with the Region of Emilia-Romagna, the Municipality of Riccione, which enjoys the patronage of the EMU - European School of Music Union, present a new project.
The project idea is to offer three days of music festival in Riccione, Italy to combine the pleasure of a holiday with the passion for music, with the aim to become a meeting place and ideal stage for young musicians who want to get together to share and perform their music.

From September 2013 DAMUSA appointed Nina Ulf Jørgensen as new general secretary, she follows Poul Thunbo who, after 5 years as general secretary, returns to his job as co-director in Odsherred Music School.
Nina has previously worked as co-director in Helsingor Music School, and as orchestra manager and producer in several Symphony Orchestras, eg. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra
From September 2013 the Norsk kulturskoleråd appointed Morten Christiansen as new director.
Morten Christiansen was the managing director of The Childhood and Youth Developing Program in Nord-Trøndelag County. Next to this he was also the supervisor of The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training.
Christiansen has previously worked as a leader of Educational and Cultural Units, headmaster of a Music School and as teacher, both in music schools as in ordinary schools.
Morten Christiansen studied at the University of Oslo, where he graduated in philosophy and science. He also studied at the Music Conservatory in Oslo and has a Masters Degree in Knowledge and Innovation Management (CBS).

The presidium has been invited by the Estonian Association of Music Schools and will meet the new board members of the Estonian Association of Music Schools and ms. Anne Kivimäe, head of the Youth Affairs Department of the Ministry of Education and Research.
