Invitation

The European Music School Union (EMU) in partnership with the Kuula Institute of Music in Vaasa, Finland, cordially extends this invitation to the EMU Capacity Building Seminar – Many Students, Many Pedagogies, which will take place from 24 – 26 October 2013 in Vaasa, Finland.

The focus of the seminar is music education, and we kindly ask you to address this invitation to persons occupying a leading position in your member schools or in your national association. Moreover, we hope that these persons take active interest in developing new pedagogical tools in their schools or associations and have some years of experience in leadership. However, young colleagues will be warmly welcome!

The EMU Capacity Building Seminar – Many Students, Many Pedagogies is the fourth part of consecutive seminars for that EMU organises for directors / management of music and/or art schools
in Europe. This particular seminar will focus on pedagogies for different areas and target groups in music education, such as children with special needs, exceptionally talented children, group pedagogy, net pedagogy and distance learning, early childhood music education and music education for elderly people. Renowned European specialists on each one of these areas will give conferences and presentations, followed by plenary and group discussions. The aim is to join forces and enhance the dialogue in order to develop music education in European music schools.
The seminar takes place in the premises of the Kuula Institute of Music in Vaasa, situated in the beautiful landscape of  World Heritage Kvarken Archipelago in Finland.

The conference language is English.

Registration
The national associations should perform the online registration as well as the payment for the Seminar. The deadline for registration is 1 September 2013. Upon registration participants will receive practical information and the detailed programme. The maximum number of participants is 35.
Applications will be accepted in the order that they are received and registrations are binding after EMU confirms it in writing. If you have any questions concerning the registration do no hesitate to contact the EMU office

Registration fee
The registration fee is € 395,- per person and covers attendance of the seminar, accommodation in Hotel Astor in Vaasa (2 nights single room); welcome reception; meals (2 breakfasts, 2 dinners and 2 lunches); refreshments during the meeting and the entrance to the Kuntsi Museum for Modern Art. The price for an extra night is € 96,- per room including breakfast. The optional program costs € 35,- .
The fee will be invoiced to the national associations and should be paid to EMU by 1 October 2013.

Travel expenses
Travel costs to and from Vaasa are at the participant’s own expense.

More than ten flights, from several northern Europeans capital cities, arrive in Vaasa every day. The fastest trains from Helsinki to Vaasa travel in only 3.5 hours.
